Steve has had the honor and pleasure of serving in a range of positions that have been professionally and globally interesting. He is currently helping to launch the new World Wide Web Foundation, as the Foundation's first CEO.
Steve has 25 years of post-doctoral experience launching and expanding complex international programs across a range of technical enterprises in for-profit and non-profit environments. In addition to his current W3C and Web Foundation experience, he has had the opportunity to deploy seismometers on the floor of the mid-Atlantic Ocean, build computer siimulations of the structure and tectonics of the Moon, help launch a new division in a large systems integration company, assess the geophysical suitability of a nuclear waste repository in Nevada, monitor nuclear weapons testing, develop a global geophysical surveillance system (with Web-based UIs), support a treaty negotiation in Geneva, and design and start a new international arms control organization in Vienna. (more)
When not doing the work thing, Steve can be found running (daily), torturing the piano (and anyone nearby), reading, golfing (rarely), spending time with the family (as much as they can stand it), and watching the kids play various sports.
